HOST CITY : ACCRA

Accra is located within the Greater Accra Region of Ghana. The region is the smallest of the 10 administrative regions in terms of area, occupying a total land surface area of 3,245 square kilometers or 1.4 % of the total land area of Ghana . In terms of population, however, it is the second most populated region, after the Ashanti Region.

The Accra Metropolitan Area is Ghana 's biggest most diverse and most cosmopolitan city. It is also the second largest industrial centre in Ghana .

Accra is well connected to the outside world by an international airport, as well as a modern habour, located about 30 kilometres to the east in the neighbouring city of Tema .

The Accra Metropolis is in the savannah zone. There are two rainy seasons, the first begins in May and ends in mid July. The second begins in mid August and ends in October. There is a little variation in temperature throughout the year. Relative humility is generally high.

Spreading along the Atlantic coast, the city houses a cream of Ghana 's historical treasures: the National Theatre, with its distinctive modern Chinese architecture, the National Cultural Centre whose arts and crafts bazaar and traditional textile market is the best place to find traditional handicrafts from all over Ghana .

Other monuments include the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum and the Du Bois Centre and King Tackie Tawiah II Garden.

In summary the Accra Metropolitan area has lots for people to do and lots for them to see.
