Delivery Services
LETTER BOX
Delivery into a private letter box is in all respects equivalent to personal delivery to the renter. Correspondence will be placed in a box only when the box number is shown in the address. A person not being a renter whose letter is addressed to the box, can obtain such letter only by arrangement with the renter.
The renters of private letter boxes must arrange to have their boxes cleared. The boxes are accessible at all times. Should a renter not be in possession of the key to his box the letter shall be given to him if he gives a written request to that effect.
PRIVATE MAIL BAGS
Private mail bags, give additional security in the delivery of correspondence and can be rented at most post offices. The conditions of rental are: -
(a)The renter must be a private letter box renter, or must undertake to rent a box when available.
(b)The renter must pay for the cost of the bag or bags and of subsequent replacement or repairs. The bags are stencilled as specified by the renter, and supplied with two keys.
POST RÉSTANTE
Letters and other packets (except parcels) to be called for, may be addressed to any post office. The words "to be called for" or "post restante" should appear in the address. The facility available is primarily intended for the accommodation of strangers and travellers or tourists. All persons applying for the "post restante" facility must furnish sufficient information to prevent mistakes and to ensure that delivery is made to the proper person.
The applicant must be able to state from what place or district he expects the letters and produce some proof of identity. At the expiry of one month postal packets are treated as undelivered but when a packet bears a request for its return within a special time not exceeding the official period of retention, if not delivered it is returned to the sender.
